Help Wanted

I'm really wanting to buy a new digital camera. Since I can not stand to figure anything out on my own, I was wandering if I could get some feed back on all you readers out there. The one I have was around $125 I think and has been ok. I just would really like to get into some neat photography etc. and would love something really nice(birthday coming up Jeff in case you are reading my blog). Let me know if any of you have a nice one that you love---it will save me some time on research! Can you tell how lazy I am about these kinds of things? Oh, and when I do get one could one of you come over and show me how to operate it so I won't have to read the instructions---I hate doing that too~(rarely do) therefore I never really know what I'm doing! I have so many more important things to do!:)

My advice is to make sure it has a good zoom! 10X at least! (That is my main complaint about my Sony!)
Check out Tricia Grissom's Blog on my list of blogger friends. She just got a really nice digital!!

My husband knows about all that stuff, so I leave it up to him. I don't read directions if I can keep from it either. It bores me to death and half the time they might as well be in Greek for all the sense they make. (you can tell a man writes them!) I tell my hubby to read it and SHOW me how it works!

Some day I would LOVE to own a Canon Digital Rebel. Probably by the time I can afford one, it will be WAY out of date, HA! I have a Canon Rebel and it takes AWESOME pictures, but it is not a digital. It is a bigger camera, but it takes professional looking pictures. I think the "picture queen" LaDonna would agree with me?! Good luck!

Definitely go with a Cannon Digital Rebel. I would recommend looking around on www.buydig.com You don't pay tax, and the shipping is pretty reasonable. Go to a camera store and play around with them, hold them in your hands, and then buy on line!! Much cheaper. I have bought 2 cameras from them and have had no trouble. I love my Cannon and it's what I use to take all my weddings and studio stuff. It's 6.2 megapixels, and it enlarges crystal clear! If you want an SLR, that's what I'd recommend. Now point and shoot would be a different story...much too long for your comments area.

Definitely not on the high end and you can't really compare it to a Canon Digital Rebel, but I am wanting to buy the Cannon A720. It has a 6x zoom I believe and very user friendly. Fast processing so you don't have to wait a long time before you take the next pic. It has IS - image stabalization. Takes great pictures. I had one almost like this, but, my fault, I dropped it on it's face and broke it. You can buy this camera online for less than $200. So, if you want to spend a lot of money then the Rebel is great, but for less money and a nice point and shoot - this one is great in my opinion. Good luck on choosing :)

Good info, girls. I'm shopping too, since mine is being a stinker. I feel like I rarely ever get good, clear photos anymore.

Can't help you in the expensive camera category (we're tootin along with our little easyshare.)

But I can relate to technological laziness. I bought one of those handy-dandy MP3 players at goodwill for $15.00! But now I'm too lazy to figure out how in the world to get music on it. I think I'll send it to my sister in Ireland and let her fight it out.

We own a Fuji S5100...We bought it for $250.oo a couple of years ago. We have 5 different family members that have either this model or a slightly older or newer version of it. We are all happy with it.(My sister-in-law did quite a bit of research on it...We took her word for it! ha!)

My camera's on the blink too! Do you think they caught a virus? :) What's weird is, I was thinking about posting something like this on my blog. Now I won't have to! I'll just take advice from yours!

Well, I have opinions but what price range are you looking at? Or if you don't want to share that, a few more details of what you'd like to accomplish with it :)

On the other hand, I might not be a single bit of help since the last four cameras I've had, I've returned!

All right! A subject I love (yet know relatively little about!)

The camera I'm saving for is the Canon Rebel xT. It's got 8 megapixels (you really don't need more than that unless you're going to enlarge a lot of poster-sized pictures), an 18-55 mm zoom (standard with the camera) and after doing a ton of research, that's what I'm going with.

This is an awesome website for doing some comparisons and research: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/page28.asp This particular link is to the Rebel xT (or 350D as it is also called), but you can look up absolutely every camera ever made. This is the site I used to come to a conclusion.

I only have about $100 to go before I have enough saved. I'm gonig to get mine off of eBay (a new one, not used), because I like the package that included the 75-300 zoom lens, but I know Roberts' Camera in Indy was having a sale. The camera itself is on sale fo $399, which is the cheapest I've seen, but I don't know if it's still on or not.

Ok, so this got lengthy. Sorry. I'm really excited to be so close to getting a camera myself!
